Lauren Ciaravalli (writer/director) a Film & TV major at NYU Tisch, counts Woody Allen and John Hughes as her filmmaking heroes. Lauren writes teen stories and romantic comedies and aspires to write and direct for film and television. Her scripts, films and screenplays have been honored by playwriting competitions and festivals at NYU. Lauren has held internships at both MTV and HBO. She is the Programming Chair and rising Co-Director of NYU's Fusion Film Festival. She's currently working on her writing portfolio and in her free time enjoys cafe con leche and attempting to keep up with pop culture. She will graduate with a BFA in Film & Television and a minor in Spanish in Spring 2013.
Ben Dewey (director of photography) grew up at the foot of the Rocky Mountains in Denver, where his mind still spends most of its time. The first time he set foot in New York City was six days before the first day of Freshman year at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. Ben is now a junior, concentrating in cinematography. He spends the school year shooting student films, and the summer shooting adventure films in Colorado. Before Lauren pitched “Try Outs,” Ben had never seen an episode of Glee, any of the High School Musical films, or even 16 Candles. Since then, he has researched the teen drama genre extensively and is completely hooked. Well, maybe not completely. But he is super excited to be working this excellent film!  Find out more at
